1. Methoni and the Famous “Bourtzi”
The route to Methoni (70km from Kalamata) is lush and relaxing. The Castle of Methoni is one of the largest in the Balkans! The highlight? The proud stone bridge with its 14 arches that leads to Bourtzi, the Aegean tower in the water. The sunset from here is magical!
2. Koroni: When Time Stands Still
A few kilometers east (about a 30-minute drive), you will find the picturesque Castle of Koroni. Unlike other monuments, this castle is still inhabited today! Walking through flower-filled courtyards knowing that you are surrounded by immense Venetian walls is simply wonderful.
3. The Niokastro of Pylos
